Privacy Policy
Last updated: February 2025
This Privacy Policy describes how Ojeda Law ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the App Abogados mobile application ("App"). By using the App, you agree to this policy.
1. Data Controller and Contact
The data controller responsible for your personal data in connection with the App is Ojeda Law. For privacy-related requests or questions, contact us at ojedalaw@gmail.com.
2. Data We Collect
We collect the following categories of data:
- Account data: Email address and a secure, hashed password when you register. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive the identifier and basic profile information (e.g., name, email) provided by those services.
- Profile data: Name, phone number, country code, preferred contact method, and information related to citizenship status that you choose to provide. You may optionally add a profile photo.
- Appointment data: Date, time, and category of requested appointments (e.g., visa, green card, citizenship, deportation, asylum), plus any notes you submit.
- Legal request data: Descriptions of your situation and any other information you submit through the App when requesting legal assistance or consultation.
- Technical and usage data: We may collect crash reports and general usage analytics (e.g., events such as sign-up, login, appointment scheduling) to improve the App's stability and experience. This may include device type and similar non-identifying information.
3. How We Use Your Data
We use your data to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the App (including account and profile management).
- Schedule and manage appointments (including sending confirmations and syncing with our calendar systems).
- Communicate with you (e.g., email confirmations, responses to your requests).
- Improve the App (e.g., analyzing usage and fixing crashes).
- Comply with legal obligations and protect our rights where necessary.
4. Sharing of Your Data
We do not sell your personal data. We may share your data with:
- Service providers: We use Google Firebase (authentication, database, storage, analytics, and crash reporting), calendar and email services to run the App. These providers process data on our behalf under contractual obligations.
- Legal and safety: We may disclose data when required by law, to protect rights or safety, or in connection with legal process.
5. Retention
We retain your data while your account is active. When you delete your account using the in-app "Delete account" option, we delete your profile, appointments, and legal-request data from our systems. Some data may remain in backups or where we are required to retain it for legal or operational reasons, for a limited period.
6. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate data (you can update your profile in the App).
- Delete your data (use the "Delete account" option in the App's Privacy settings).
- Data portability: Request a copy of your data in a portable format; contact us at ojedalaw@gmail.com.
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent (e.g., by deleting your account or contacting us).
To exercise these rights, use the in-app options or contact us at ojedalaw@gmail.com. If you are in the European Economic Area, you may also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Residents of California and other jurisdictions may have additional rights under local law.
7. International and Jurisdictions
Your data may be processed in the United States and in countries where our service providers operate. We take steps to protect your data in accordance with applicable law. If you are in Mexico, your rights may be governed by the Ley Federal de Protección de Datos Personales en Posesión de los Particulares (LFPDPPP) and related regulations.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and access controls. No system is completely secure; we do not guarantee absolute security.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will indicate the "Last updated" date at the top. Material changes may be communicated via the App or by email. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
